Northern Irish rally driver Patrick Barron Hopkirk, MBE (14 April 1933 – 21 July 2022) passed away. He received the MBE designation in the 2016 New Year's Honours list. Hopkirk was appointed IAM RoadSmart Mature Drivers Ambassador in the beginning of 2016. A V.W. Beetle with the registration number EI 5756 was the vehicle Hopkirk used to take his first victory at the Cairncastle Hillclimb in 1953. It would be the first of many Circuit entries; on the first day of the tournament the following year, he was leading the Circuit. In 1955, he began a great career in professional racing and rally driving by winning his class at the Circuit of Ireland and earning his first Hewison Trophy, which is given to the top Irish rally driver of the year. Paddy Hopkirk completes his education at a Belfast, Northern Ireland, neighborhood school. He is then accepted to Clongowes Wood College SJ, where he received his diploma and continued his education. His educational background is graduate-level.
