Zakaraya Usman, a 30-year-old painter, was given a two-month prison term on Tuesday, May 25, for stealing four bibles, 124 church membership forms, and other items.
Mr. David Usman, the Chief Security Officer of Living Faith Church’s Durumi I branch, reported the incident to the Durumi Police Station, according to the Prosecution Counsel, Mr. O. S. Osho, who testified in court in Kabusa, Abuja.
Usman, who allegedly entered the church grounds without permission, was charged with taking 124 church membership papers, 18 testimonial certificates, 14 Caprisonne beverages, three tiny Bibles, and one large Bible. In addition, he took two bags, two handkerchiefs, two shirts, two jackets, security jackets, and two jackets.
All of the items were taken from him over the course of the police inquiry.
After the defendant admitted guilt to the allegation, Judge Malam Abubakar Sadiq of Grade I Area Court sitting in Kabusa, Abuja, gave the defendant the sentence.
Usman was given the choice of completing the jail term or paying a fine of N10,000. Additionally, Sadiq counseled the offender not to repeat the offense and forewarned him that the court would not be forgiving if he did.
