Paul Pogba blames ‘mental problems’ for his injury-ravaged season at Juventus after making just six Serie A appearances

Paul Pogba, who only made six Serie A games for Juventus owing to injury, has attributed his failures at the club to “mental problems.”

The Frenchman returned to Juventus in the summer of 2017 when his contract with Manchester United expired. The plan, however, was derailed when he had his first injury during the preseason and decided against having surgery despite being encouraged to do so.

Later, he was compelled to have knee surgery in September, missing the World Cup with France in Qatar while his recovery took place in Italy.

The 30-year-old then played in his first competitive match for Juventus this season, a 2-2 draw with Torino, before missing the remainder of the campaign due to an injury he sustained while practicing free kicks in training.

The midfielder has recently clarified that his ailments were primarily caused by “mental problems.”

‘The injuries that came this year are all due to mental problems. No season ever tested me as much as this one,’ he told Calcio Mercato.

‘My most important victory will be to overcome these extra-sports obstacles once and for all.’
