Police Arrest Two Suspected Shop Breakers, Recover 48 Stolen Phones In Katsina

Two alleged shoplifters have been detained by the Katsina State Police Command, and 46 stolen phones have been found.

CSP Gambo Isah, a spokesman for the command, made this announcement in a statement on Friday, May 19, 2023. He said the offenders were apprehended after they broke into one business and took 48 phones.

According to the PPRO, “On May 17, 2023, at around 1830 hours, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting the duo of one (1) Abubakar Haruna a.k.a. Zagi,’m’, aged 23, of Nwala quarters, Katsina, and one (2) Ibrahim Sani a.k.a. Sisi,’m’, aged 22, of Goron Gida quarters, Katsina.”

The two individuals were apprehended when they collaborated in a criminal plot to break into the shop of Jamilu Haske, a GSM phone dealer located in Tsohuwar Tasha, Katsina. They stole forty-eight (48) GSM handsets with the intention of selling them in Niger Republic.

During the investigation, the suspects admitted to committing the crime and revealed that they conspired with an individual named Tayi, who is currently evading capture, to carry out the unlawful act. Authorities are making efforts to apprehend the fugitive suspect, and the investigation is still ongoing.
