The Pretoria High Court has sentenced the killer of South African actor, playwright, and director, Sibusiso Khwinana to spend 23 years in jail after 3 witnesses testified to seeing him stab the actor and fleeing with his phone in 2019.
The suspect, a Tanzanian national identified as Julies Lucas has landed himself a 15-year sentence for robbery with aggravating circumstances and 8-years for contravening the Immigration Act after it was uncovered that he entered South Africa illegally.
During his court appearance yesterday, the judge, Portia Phahlane, ordered that Lucas should be returned to his country of origin (Tanzania) after serving his sentence.
It was also revealed that Lucas had tried to delay his sentence earlier on as he fired his attorney minutes to his sentence earlier this year on claims that he was not happy with his service delivery.
However, he was made aware that he can only delay the court proceedings up to the end of the year despite constantly claiming that he was wrongfully accused.
