Rachel Balkovec was born and bred in Omaha, Nebraska. She has two sisters. Her father was a customer service manager for American airlines. And her mother was a bookkeeper. Her father missed just three days of work in 35 years. Her mother went back to work as soon as her youngest started school.

She said she used to be a fan of softball. She loved it more than the former but her boyfriend helped in re-aligning her mentality.
She got to know the game when she dated a guy who played baseball in New Mexico and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“It showed me the inner workings of professional baseball,” she said. “I became fascinated with the business of professional baseball and the onion that it is.”
She was a catcher on the softball teams at Creighton University and New Mexico, and earned a master’s degree in kinesiology from Louisiana State University in 2012.

Rachel had her High School education at Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha. This was where her career started. She played softball, soccer, and basketball. After high school, Rachel moved to Creighton University for her tertiary education where she was a catcher on the softball team. Shortly after, she got transferred to the University of New Mexico in 2009, where she graduated with a degree in exercise science. Over here too, she was a catcher for the softball team.
Rachel didn’t stop there, she moved to Louisiana State University to pursue her Master’s Degree in kinesiology.
In 2018, she enrolled at the Vrije University in the Netherlands to study human movement sciences.
