A liberal political analyst and American television news broadcaster named Rachel Anne Maddow was born on April 1, 1973 in Castro Valley, California.
The year before she was born, her father, Robert B. Maddow, a former captain in the United States Air Force, resigned from his position and began working as a lawyer for the East Bay Municipal Utility District. Elaine (née Gosse), her mother, oversaw several academic initiatives. She has a sibling who is older.
The Rachel Maddow Show, a weekly program on MSNBC, is hosted by Maddow, who also co-anchors the cable network’s special events with Brian Williams.
From 2005 until 2010, Air America Radio broadcast the same-named syndicated talk show she hosted. For her television work, Maddow has won numerous Emmy Awards. In addition, her book Blowout 2019 won a Grammy Award in 2021 for Best Spoken Word Album.
Together with her partner, artist Susan Mikula, Maddow divides her time between West Cummington, Massachusetts, and Manhattan, New York.
When Maddow was completing her doctoral dissertation in 1999, they connected.
