Rapper, Killer Mike Arrested Shortly After Winning Three Grammy Awards

Killer Mike, a well-known rapper, was jailed soon after winning a Grammy.

According to Chris Gardner, a senior staff writer for Hollywood Reporter, the rapper was “taken away in handcuffs” during the main category broadcast on Crypto.com Arena.

Gardener posted a video of the rapper being hauled away by some law enforcement agents on his X account and wrote:

“Breaking: Rapper Killer Mike has been taken away in handcuffs in Crypto.com arena after winning 3 #Grammys during telecast (Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” Best Rap Album for Michael) “Free Mike” someone shouts as he walks past.”

Before being sent to prison, Killer Mike was winning three Grammys, including Best Rap Song for his song “Scientists & Engineers,” which he co-won with Eryn Allen Kane, Andre 3000, and Future.

The exact reason for his arrest remains unknown.

American rapper and activist Michael Santiago Render, better known by his stage name Killer Mike, was born on April 20, 1975. First heard on the Grammy Award-winning single “The Whole World” from Outkast’s greatest hits album Big Boi and Dre Present… Outkast (2001), he made his recording debut on the group’s fourth album Stankonia (2000).
