Rapper Young Thug Arrested On Criminal Street Gang Activity Charges

On Monday, rapper Young Thug was arrested in Georgia and charged with racketeering and involvement in criminal street gang activity.

According to Fulton County jail records seen by Insider, Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was arrested by Atlanta police.

According to court documents obtained by NBC News, he was one of 28 people named in an indictment.

According to jail records, he was charged with involvement in criminal street gang activity and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. According to the records, the crimes were committed in 2013 and 2018.

A release date was not listed in the jail records.

Outside of business hours, Insider was unable to contact the Fulton County DA or the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

According to NBC News, Williams is accused of being one of three founding members of a gang known as YSL, or “Young Slime Life.”

On Monday, agents raided Williams’ home and dug up his garden, according to TMZ sources.

Williams’ lawyer, Brian Steel, told NBC News that his client is innocent.

“Mr. Williams has broken no laws in any way. We will fight this case with integrity, legality, and zeal. Mr. Williams will be found not guilty.”
