Sir James Arthur Ratcliffe is a British billionaire chemical engineer who has turned to a mega financier and industrialist.

He was born on 18 October 1952 (age [calculate_years datestring=”10/18/1952″]) in Failsworth, Lancashire, England.

When he was just ten years, his family moved to the East Riding of Yorkshire. He received his education at Beverley Grammar School and went on to attend the University of Birmingham. He graduated from the University with a degree in chemical engineering in 1974.

Though he had a degree in chemical engineering, he turned to a financier and industrialist.

After his education, he first worked with the oil trading company Esso. He further broadened his horizon in finance, taking an MSc in finance at London Business School from 1978 to 1980.

He is the co-founder of Inspec. He is also famous for founding the chemical company Ineos in 1998. So basically, his huge financial base takes its root from his mega-companies.
