Buechele was born on January 8, 1998, in Arlington, Texas, U.S., where he attended Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas.
In high school, he was a star in both football and baseball. As a quarterback in football passed for 6,379 yards with 73 touchdowns and rushed for 1,805 yards and 21 touchdowns.
After his high school career, he played college football but was undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft. As a result, the Kansas City Chiefs signed him as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2021. The Chiefs waived him on August 31, 2021, and the next day, they signed him to their practice squad. Buechele was later elevated from the practice squad on November 16, 2021.
