Sola Faleye, the late Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe’s Personal Assistant, has detailed how he evaded being on the helicopter that killed Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba Wigwe, their first son Chizzy Wigwe, and businessman Abimbola Ogunbajo on February 9.

While speaking at a memorial night in memory of Late Wigwe in Lagos state on Wednesday, March 6, Faleye revealed that they all left Nigeria for London before taking a flight to Palm Springs airport in California, from which they were supposed to fly to Vegas by helicopter.

He claimed that when he had asked his supervisor if he felt comfortable operating a helicopter in the United States at night while travelling from London to Palm Springs, the boss had responded,

‘’This is America, they have a navigation system for flying Chopper at night”

He said he returned to his seat afterward. Faleye stated that they all landed at Palm Springs Airport in California and were informed that the helicopter would not be able to transport everyone and their belongings. Faleye stated that he offered to drive the bags to Vegas while Wigwe, his wife, son, and Mr. Ogunbajo boarded a helicopter to the same destination.

Faleye claimed that none of his attempts to reach his employer or the other passengers on the helicopter throughout the flight to Vegas were successful. Later on, he received the tragic news that everyone on board had died in the helicopter crash.
