Adotevi began his political career in Benin, serving in various government roles. He held positions such as Minister of Information in 1963 and Minister of Culture from 1965 to 1968.

Following his tenure in the Beninese government, Adotevi transitioned to the civil service sector. He served as the Director of the Institute of Applied Research and later as the Director of the National Archives and Museums, where he worked towards preserving and promoting Benin’s cultural heritage.

In 1981, Adotevi expanded his career onto the international stage when he was appointed as the UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso). His dedication and effectiveness in this role led to his appointment as the UNICEF Regional Director for West and Central Africa in 1987.

Adotevi passed away on February 7, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of service and impact that will be remembered for years to come.
