One of six co-defendants found guilty in the August 1998 torture and murder of 59-year-old Louis “Buddy” Musso, a mentally disabled man killed for his life insurance money, was Suzanne Margaret “Sue” Basso (née Burns; May 15, 1954 – February 5, 2014).

Suzanne Basso Release Date

Suzzane received a death sentence in October 1999. Basso was put to death on February 5, 2014, by lethal injection.

All of the state’s female death row inmates are housed at the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville, Texas, where Basso was kept before her execution. Basso resided in the Houston suburb of Jacinto City, Texas, at the time of the crime.

Basso consumed the standard prison fare of baked chicken, fish, boiled eggs, carrots, green beans, and sliced bread because Texas no longer fulfils last-meal requests for inmates on death row.

On February 5, 2014, she was put to death at the TDCJ’s Huntsville Unit. “No, sir,” she said to the prison warden when he asked if she had any final words to say. At 6:26 p.m. CST, 11 minutes after receiving a lethal dosage of the medication pentobarbital, she was declared dead.
