Tems, the sensational Grammy Award-winning performer, made her debut red-carpet appearance at the 2023 MET Gala.

The “Fashion’s Biggest Night” took place on Monday, May 1st, 2022, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Tems looked stunning in a handmade Robert Wun gown with a corset-like bodice and elbow-length gloves for this year’s edition.

Nigerian celebrities are attending the event for the first time. Burna Boy was present as well. He arrived wearing a Burberry suit made to order.

Tems, a Grammy-winning musician from Nigeria, conducted praise and worship in her cell when she was detained by Ugandan authorities in 2020, according to the performer’s manager Muyiwa Awoniyi.

Recall that in December 2020, Omah Lay and Tems, two singers from Nigeria, were seized and arrested in Kampala by Ugandan authorities for breaking COVID-19 restrictions.

On the most recent episode of Menisms’ audiovisual podcast, which is hosted by Olumurewa and Michael Sonariwo, Awoniyi recalled the incident. She asserted that Tems had the prisoners participate in her song.

He said;

“Entering prison, as a woman, Tems, they [prison warders] took her to the female section. I was just worried about her. I was not with her. I was just wondering what the hell is going on [with her?].

“I will come to find out that Tems conducted praise and worship in a whole prison cell. Everybody was singing with her. She took over the whole prison.”
