Hans Hollmann was born in Graz, Styria, Austria on February 4, 1993. His parents were both teachers.
He was a well-known actor and theater director in Swiss-Austrian. He possessed a law degree and was employed as an instructor at a university. Despite being an Austrian native, Hollmann spent many years living in Basel with his family.
In 1956, Hollmann obtained a PhD in law from the nearby university after completing the Gymnasium in Graz. Later, at the Reinhardt Seminar at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, he changed his academic focus from music to drama. He earned a diploma in acting in 1958.
Reinhild Solf was his wife for decades. Their marriage brought forth three children. Casper Florian who died in accident in the year 2001 was his only son. Anna Hollmann, a political scientist and Anna Josephine are his daughters.
