Jonathan Edward Bernthal is an actor from the United States.
Bernthal's face was also utilized for the character in the Marvel Comics title The Punisher: War Machine (2017) and a Punisher comic book series that is still running. Snitch (2013), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Fury (2014), Sicario (2015), The Accountant (2016), Baby Driver (2017), Wind River (2017), Widows (2018), Ford v Ferrari (2019), Those Who Wish Me Dead, King Richard, and The Many Saints of Newark are just a few of his cinematic performances (all 2021).
He rose to notoriety in the early 2000s as Shane Walsh on the AMC horror series The Walking Dead, where he was a leading cast member for the first two seasons.

He has two brothers: Nicholas, an orthopedic surgeon, and UCLA professor, and Thomas, the CEO of a consulting firm who is married to a billionaire and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.
Bernthal has been in over 30 regional and Off-Broadway productions since 2002, including several with his own award-winning theatrical group, the now-defunct Fovea Floods.
