The late John Brockington played running back for the NFL. He was an American professional football player. He played for the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs throughout his entire tenure.
The NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1971 was Brockington, an Ohio State University product who was selected in the first round of the draft.

With 1,105 yards and 5.1 yards per carry in his rookie season, Brockington set the NFL rookie rushing mark and was the only rookie to be designated an Associated Press All-Pro. Additionally, the AP named him NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and the United Press International and Newspaper Enterprise Association each named him NFC Rookie of the Year.
A career-best 149 yards with a 6.5 average were part of Brockington’s rushing total that first season against an 11-3 Minnesota squad, which went on to win the NFC Central Division.
