According to a family statement, American actress Kirstie Alley passed away from cancer. Her age was 71. She was a talented performer who earned an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her work as a pub manager and waitress on the well-known TV series.

Her children stated, “We are heartbroken to inform you that our incredible, feisty, and beloved mother has passed away.”

In the 1980s and 1990s, Alley gained the most notoriety for her part in the comedic sitcom Cheers.

The Kansas-born celebrity also starred in the TV sitcom Veronica’s Closet and the Look Who’s Talking movie series.

A fan favorite for deflecting attempts from Ted Danson’s womanizing bar owner Sam Malone on the NBC sitcom “Cheers,” Alley played Rebecca Howe, the bar manager, and cocktail server.

Initially coming across as a strong, independent lady, Alley’s character constantly tried and failed in relationships, frequently with wealthy men, which made her feel more insecure and frustrated.

Kirstie Alley joined the show in 1987, during the height of its success, and remained a regular until its cancellation in 1993, appearing in 147 episodes.
