Former professional American football running back John Brockington played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. On September 7, 1948, he was born in Brooklyn, New York.

At The Ohio State University, where he played college football, Brockington was a two-time All-American and assisted in the 1968 national championship run of the Buckeyes. He was chosen in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, and he played for them from 1971 to 1977.

Brockington ran for more than 1,000 yards in three straight seasons from 1971 to 1973 while playing with the Packers. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl three times during his career with the team. In 1972 and 1974, he also assisted the Packers in capturing the NFC Central Division.
