Mugler was born on December 21, 1948 in Strasbourg, France.
He developed an interest for designing clothes at an early age and subsequently opened his first boutique in Paris during the 1970s.
The icon has undergone many facial reconstructive surgeries over the years following a series of accidents he was involved in.
Mugler made no secret of having undergone a number of facial surgeries after he suffered numerous accidents.
According to him, the human body is “an instrument for artistic excellence”.
Mugler told actress Tippi Hedron about a severe jeep crash that left his nose completely destroyed such that, he had to undergo a nose reconstruction surgery.
The fashion icon explained that despite the accidents, he didn’t undergo any surgery until he made up his mind as a result of warnings from his doctors.
He however passed away on January 23, 2022, at the age of 73.
