Anthony Alan Staley, who is commonly referred to as Tony Staley was born in 1939 in Horsham, Victoria. Growing up, Staley was educated at Scotch College and Melbourne University.
Staley started his career as a teacher and taught at Wadhurst, Melbourne Grammar, before becoming a lecturer in the politics department at Melbourne University.
Staley contested the federal seat of Chisholm, after the death of sitting member Wilfred Kent Hughes in 1970 in which he won.
Tony Staley sadly passed away at the age of 83.

Tony Staley was best known as an Australian politician and a member of the Liberal Party. Staley further held the Victorian seat of Chisholm from 1970 to 1980 and was a cabinet minister in the Fraser government.
The politician was also the federal president of the Liberal Party in 1993 and remained in office till 1999. Staley's tenure was regarded as successful for the Liberals.
