On August 5, 1944, was born. She was an actress who appeared in the Thakshak (1999), Two Women (1996), and Ek Din Achanak (1989). In Pune, India, on April 12, 2023, she passed away.

Uttara graduated in 1968 from the National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi, where she studied acting under Ebrahim Alkazi. Uttara received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1984 for her exceptional work in Hindi film and television. She was then recognized with the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1988 for her performance in Ek Din Achanak.

By playing prominent roles in plays like Mena in Mena Gurjari, the mother in playwright Girish Karnad's Tughlaq, Padmavati in Mukyhamantri, the nautch girl in Chhote, and many more, she established herself as a leading actress in the field.

The drama Sandhya Chhaya by Jaywant Dalvi, which was a Hindi translation of the original play by Kusum Kumar, was directed by Uttara in 1978. A beloved figure in the Indian community is Uttara Baokar.
