Authorities said Wednesday that they had located the remains of a Colorado mother who went for a bike ride on Mother’s Day 2020 and never returned.
The discovery of Suzanne Morphew’s remains, which occurred while authorities were investigating another case, is the latest twist in a mystery that has seen prosecutors accuse her husband with murder and then abandon their case. Following that, Barry Morphew launched a $15 million lawsuit against county officials.
While searching in the Moffat region on Friday, Colorado Bureau of Investigation investigators discovered the remains of the 49-year-old mother of two daughters. That is around 40 miles (65 kilometers) south of Salida, where Suzanne Morphew was last seen.
Barry Morphew was charged with murder and other charges in her suspected death, but prosecutors dropped their case against him just as he was set to go on trial last year.
