Former professional American football running back John Brockington played for the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. On September 7, 1948, he was born in Brooklyn, New York.

At The Ohio State University, where he played college football, Brockington was a two-time All-American, and he helped the Buckeyes win the 1968 national title.

He was chosen by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft, and he was a member of their team from 1971 to 1977.

When a member of the Packers from 1971 through 1973, Brockington ran for more than 1,000 yards three years in a row. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl three times during his stint with the team. In 1972 and 1974, he also assisted the Packers in capturing the NFC Central Division.

With 5,302 running yards and 29 touchdowns at the end of his NFL career, Brockington retired in 1979 while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs. Brockington, who retired from football to pursue a successful business career, has participated in a number of charity endeavours.
