Margaret Ferrier, a Scottish politician, was born on September 10, 1960. She previously held the office of Member of Parliament for Rutherglen and Hamilton West from 2015 to 2017. Ferrier, a Scottish National Party candidate, won his first seat in the House of Commons in the 2015 presidential election.
In the general election of 2017, she lost her seat to Labour Party candidate Ged Killen, although she won it back two years later.
The Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, called on Ferrier to quit her parliamentary seat after the SNP suspended her on October 1 2020 for violating COVID-19 lockdown guidelines.
She was taken into custody on January 4th, 2021, and charged with “culpable and reckless conduct,” to which she pleaded guilty and was later given a community service sentence.
She managed commercial sales for a Motherwell manufacturing construction company before being elected to the House of Commons.
Ferrier and her daughter reside in Halfway, South Lanarkshire.
