Powell & Son wines is an expressive winery situated around the Barossa and Eden Valley regions of Australia.
The winery has its roots in the ancient Barossa settlers who cultivated the crop in that region. Callum and Dave Powell, the owners of Powell and Son wines employ traditional, minimalist winemaking techniques to produce wine that speaks of the place where it was grown.
Their inspiration for winemaking stems from France’s Rhone Valley. Powell & Son red wines are made from the classic Rhone varietals: Shiraz, Grenache, and Mataro, and its white wines are made: Roussanne, Marsanne as well as Eden Valley Riesling.
The Powells believe strongly that great wine is made in the vineyard, and so the father and son pair work the vineyards on their own in the Winter and Spring seasons, then in Autumn pick the fruit and vinify using old concrete ferment vats and basket pressing. The beautiful result is producing unique and expressive wines from their most prized vineyards throughout the Barossa and Eden valley.
