Tua Tagovailoa is an American football quarterback who plays for the Miami Dolphins. He was born on March 2, 1998.

The oldest of 4 children in a Samoan family, Tagovailoa was born in Ewa Beach, Hawaii to Galu and Diane Tagovailoa. He was believed to have had a lifelong passion for football; according to his parents, as a young boy, he could sleep with a football under his arm every night.

When Tua was eight years old, during Pop Warner games, when his contemporaries could usually only throw a football a little more than 10 yards, he regularly completed throws longer than 30 yards.

In his debut season of varsity football in high school, Tagovailoa passed for 33 passing touchdowns, three interceptions, and 2,583 passing yards.

When asked about his sources of motivation, Tagovailoa cited his father’s use of a belt as a major source of inspiration and drive.

During the 2017 transfer season, Tagovailoa received a four-star rating and was regarded as the best high school talent in the state of Hawaii.
