David Khari Webber Chappelle who was born on August 24, 1973, is a stand-up comedian and actor from the United States.

He is best known for his satirical sketch comedy show Chappelle’s Show, which aired from 2003 to 2006.

The program, which Chappelle co-wrote with Neal Brennan, ran until Chappelle left in the middle of the third season’s production.

Chappelle went on to do stand-up comedy around the United States after leaving the program. By 2006, Esquire had dubbed Chappelle the “comic genius of America,” and a Billboard writer had dubbed him “the greatest” in 2013.

He was voted No. 9 in Rolling Stone’s “50 Best Stand Up Comics of All Time” in 2017.

Robin Hood, Men in Tights, 1993, The Nutty Professor, 1996, Con Air (1997), You’ve Got Mail (1998), Blue Streak (1999), Undercover Brother (2002), Chi-Raq (2015), and A Star Is Born is just a few of Chappelle’s cinematic credits (2018).

Half Baked, a comedy film he co-wrote with Neal Brennan, was his first main role. Chappelle also had a role in the ABC comedy Buddies (1996). He inked a $20 million per comedy special agreement with Netflix in 2016 and released six stand-up specials as part of the pact.

He has won several awards, including five Emmy Awards, three Grammy Awards, and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

In 2017, Chappelle won his first Emmy for a guest performance on Saturday Night Live. For his Netflix-produced comedy album The Age of Spin & Deep in the Heart of Texas, he won a Grammy Award in 2018.

Another Netflix special starring Chappelle, Equanimity, was nominated for three Emmys in 2018 and won the award for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).

In 2019, Chappelle was awarded the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, which is considered America’s finest comedy prize.

Sticks & Stones awarded Chappelle his third Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album in a row in 2020.

On the 4th of May 2022, while filming a Netflix special in Los Angeles, he was attacked onstage.
