Legendary South African actress Lydia Mokgokoloshi is best remembered for her appearances as Koko Mantsha in the SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam and the Sepedi drama Bophelo ke Semphekgo.

Fans have questioned why award-winning actress Lydia Mokgokoloshi, who portrays Katlego Peterson’s grandmother Koko Mantsha in Skeem Saam, did not appear in the film.

According to a July 2020 Sowetan article, the illustrious actress, who has played Koko Mantsha on the soap opera since its debut in 2011, has taken a hiatus from performing.

Although fans will see less of Mokgokoloshi on TV, the instructional soap opera stated to the outlet that she is still a regular on the program.

The soapie’s spokesperson Sumanya Mogola said: “She will still be in and out of the story. She just won’t be shooting as much as she used to. Our shooting schedule gets really hectic at times and we don’t want to wear her out. She is at a very sensitive age so she needs as much rest, care, and comfort as possible.”

When her character relocated from Turfloop in Limpopo, where the plot is mostly focused, to her house in 2020, she took a vacation from the program.
