She formerly served as the host of MSNBC’s midday show Now with Alex Wagner from 2011 to 2015.

Since April 2016, she has also worked as a senior editor at The Atlantic magazine.

Alex Wagner was raised in Washington, D.C., where he was born.
Before enrolling at Swarthmore College, her mother Tin Swe Thant, an immigrant from Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma), naturalized as a citizen of the United States.

Her father, Carl Wagner, was of Luxembourger and Irish ancestry and was from Lansing, Iowa.

He served as co-chairman of Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign and was a well-known political adviser for the Democratic Party.
