A 31-year-old mother leaves work and never returns home on August 29, 2002.

Audrey Herron was a 31-year-old wife and mother of three who went missing on August 29, 2002. She left her workplace and never returned home. Herron was a part-time nurse at the Columbia-Greene Long Term Care Facility in Freehold.

She was previously married and had a daughter. In August 1995, she got married to Jeff and the pair had two children together.

Herron was working a later shift on the day she went missing. Earlier that day, Herron got word that she would be getting a substantial raise, and had called Jeff to tell him the good news. By 11pm, her shift had ended and she was heading home.

She drove a 1994 black Jeep Cherokee with a New York plate reading X23-3UV, and lived approximately 15-30 minutes away from her work. By 11:30pm, Herron had not arrived home.

By 6:00 a.m. the next day Jeff realized that his wife was still not home. He then called Herron’s mother, Shirley Olmstead, to see if she made any contact with Herron.

Herron was reported missing, and authorities wasted no time in conducting searches totaling 120 miles of road and trails by foot and helicopter. She was last seen wearing dark green scrubs with a blue turtleneck underneath and a silver ‘-1 mom’ necklace.
