David Justice, who was born in Cincinnati, graduated at the age of 16 after skipping two grades (the seventh and eighth).
He attended Thomas More College in Kentucky and declared that basketball was his preferred sport at the time, adding, “I didn't love baseball back then.”
However, he was selected by the Braves in the fourth round of the 1985 MLB Draft, and he played in the minor leagues for at least three years among players like Ron Gant, Tom Glavine, Steve Avery, and Mark Lemke.
David Justice then hit a combined 238 with 17 home runs and 65 RBIs in 1988 at Double-A Greenville in the Southern League and Triple-A Richmond in the International League, cementing his position as the Braves' future right fielder.
