Whitney Thore, born on April 14, 1984, in Greensboro, North Carolina, is an American television personality, dancer, author, and activist. She gained widespread recognition through her reality television series “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” which premiered on TLC in 2015.

Before her television career, Thore attended the Governor’s School of North Carolina’s Theatre Summer Enrichment Program at Meredith College. She later graduated from Page High School in 2002 and earned a degree in Theatre from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.

Following college, Thore taught English in South Korea, where she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition contributing to her weight gain.

In addition to her television work, Thore is also an author, with her memoir “I Do It with the Lights On: And 10 More Discoveries on the Road to a Blissfully Shame-Free Life” published in 2016.

She continues to inspire and empower others through her activism, public speaking engagements, and social media presence, promoting self-acceptance and inclusivity regardless of body size.
