In Wichita, Kansas, Kirstie Alley was born on January 12, 1951. Alley relocated to California and started working as an interior decorator after briefly studying acting at Kansas State University.

Alley made her feature film debut in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which marked a turning point in her career (1982). Alley then had a significant part in the TV miniseries North and South.

But Alley’s ascent to fame didn’t start until she was chosen to take Shelly Long’s position in the well-known comedy Cheers in the late 1980s.

Kirstie Alley’s Big Life, an A&E reality television series, premiered in March 2010 with Alley as the lead.

Alley participated in Dancing with the Stars, an ABC reality television dancing competition, in its 12th season in 2011.

Alley finished second in the competition with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, falling short of Hines Ward and Ward’s partner, Kym Johnson.

Alley was invited to return to the 15th season of Dancing with the Stars, Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars, in 2012.

From 1983 to 1997, Alley was wed to actor Parker Stevenson. William True and Lillie Price are their two adoptive kids.
