The company’s first products were a butter churn, cream separator, and tub washing machine, under the Meteor brand. Carl supervised the manufacturing personally, while Reinhard apprenticed and handled finances and sales.

Miele started the production of vacuum cleaners in 1927, and in 1929, the first electric dishwasher in Europe was produced. Motorcycles were built starting from 1930. In 1932, the company was the largest centrifuge factory in Europe. During the Second World War, the company produced control units for torpedoes of the German Kriegsmarine.

Miele is represented in 47 countries and exports products to global markets. Their expansion into the U.S. came in 1983, when they established corporate headquarters in Somerset, New Jersey, United States. In 1999, Miele relocated to the new headquarters in Princeton, which was designed by the Driehaus Prize winner Michael Graves. Most of uts products are made in Germany or Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Romania. The company has ten showrooms in the United States.
