Why Dettol is banned in US?
Some products were banned in the US including Dettol. In September 2017, the United States FDA banned the use of some soaps and washes because they found out that, the antibacterial soaps are no longer effective than plain soap and water. They believe it could cause serious health diseases to users. Dettol uses phenol chloroxylenol as an active ingredient. It is used for disinfection purposes and provides protection from germs. But phenol chloroxylenol is a toxic compound that has negative health complications; it can cause kidney failure and respiratory distress if ingested. Manufacturers failed to prove that antibacterial soaps are more effective than plain soaps. In the US, Dettol is not available in any shop because it does more harm than good.
