Smoking is frowned upon in many countries around the world due to its health implications it leaves with humans. If you’re unaware, smoke contains the hazardous carbon monoxide chemical which hinders the flow of oxygen to the muscles, causing blood vessels to contract.
It is obviously harmful for sports persons who are expected to remain physically fit and healthy at all times to smoke cigarettes, marijuana, tobacco amongst others.
This may cause athletes and footballers performance to fall drastically and be unable to build a healthy muscle efficiently.
For this reason, these players are prohibited from the act.
Although smoking is banned from stadiums worldwide, it has not stopped some individual players and athletes from engaging in it.
Mario Balotelli, an Italian soccer player, once said “I can finish two packs a day but since I’m a professional footballer, I finish just one”. Well, he may need some help and time to quit smoking.
It is however advisable for these professionals to desist from acts of smoking because of the adverse effects it can cause their cardio fitness and stamina. As though that’s not enough, it also reduces the pain they can endure while competing and make them susceptible to defeat or perhaps injury.
