Born Robert Norman Ross on October 29, 1942, Bob Ross was an American painter, art instructor, and television host.

He was the creator and host of The Joy of Painting, an instructional television program that aired from 1983 to 1994 on PBS in the United States, CBC in Canada, and similar channels in Latin America, Europe and many places around the world.

Bob Ross subsequently become widely known through his internet presence even after his death. Sadly, Bob Ross died of cancer on July 4, 1995.

His painting style made him iconic. Bob Ross was a painter and television personality whose popular PBS television show The Joy of Painting (1983–1994) made him a household name as the painting teacher of the masses. He reportedly painted 30,000 paintings in his lifetime. With his distinctive afro hair, gentle voice, and signature expressions such as “happy little trees,” he stole the hearts of many on the TV Screens.
