Joni Mitchell, born Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7, 1943, in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada, is a renowned Canadian-American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and painter.

As one of the most influential singer-songwriters to emerge from the 1960s folk music circuit, Mitchell became known for her starkly personal lyrics and unconventional compositions, which incorporated pop and jazz elements.

Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including ten Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Rolling Stone called her “one of the greatest songwriters ever,” and AllMusic stated, “When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century”.

Mitchell’s music career began in the 1960s, with her eponymous debut album, produced by David Crosby. With each successive release, she gained a larger following, from “Clouds” (which won a Grammy Award for best folk performance in 1969) to her later works, such as “Dog Eat Dog” (1985), “Night Ride Home” (1991), and “Turbulent Indigo” (1994), which won a Grammy Award in 1995.

In recent years, Joni Mitchell has faced personal and health challenges, including a brain aneurysm in 2015 and a tumor in 2017. Joni returned to public appearances in 2021, accepting several awards in person, including a Kennedy Center Honor in 2021.

Why Is Joni Mitchell Not On Spotify?

Joni Mitchell’s music is not available on Spotify due to her decision to remove all her music from the platform in protest of Joe Rogan’s podcast, which she believes spreads misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines.
