Yaşar Okuyan was a Turkish journalist, writer and politician, born on August 28, 1950, in Elmalık, Yalova , Turkey.

Okuyan graduated from Istanbul Private Journalism High School, and for 21 years, he worked as a reporter, photojournalist, columnist and intelligence manager in various newspapers, magazines and agencies and was entitled to receive a permanent press card. Okuyan also served as the chairman of the board of directors of İmbat Group of Companies for a period.

As a politician, he worked in various political parties such as, Nationalist Movement Party (1971-1980), Motherland Party (1995-2002), Nationalist Movement Party (2002-2004), True Path Party (2004), Democratic Turkey Party (2004-2005), Freedom and Change Party (2005-2008), People’s Rise Party ( 2008), Homeland Party (2015-2018), and Republican People’s Party (2018-2023).

In addition, between 1995 and 2002, he served as a Member of Parliament for Yalova and as Minister of Labor and Social Security between 1999 and 2002.

Unfortunately, Okuyan was reported to have passed away at the Başkent University Hospital on December 26, 2023, at the age of 73.
