South African singer-songwriter Bulelwa Mkutukana, better known by her stage name Zahara, was born on November 9, 1987, and passed away on December 11, 2023. Mkutukana’s debut album, Loliwe (2011), became double platinum after he signed a record deal with TS Records. “Phendula”, “Impilo”, and “Stay” are three of her chart-topping songs from her second album, Phendula (2013).

In 2015, Zahara’s third album, Country Girl, received a triple platinum certification. She signed a record contract with Warner Music after leaving TS Records. Mgodi (2017), her fourth album, was certified platinum and went on to become her best-selling record.

Nqaba Yam (2021), her fifth album, reached its highest position on iTunes.17 South African Music Awards, three Metro FM Awards, and one Nigeria Entertainment Award are among her accomplishments.

Zahara was included in the BBC’s 100 Women list for 2020. In 2021, she made an appearance on the seventeenth season of Idols South Africa as a guest judge.

Zahara was not known to have committed suicide. Zahara was known to have been unwell for some time but unfortunately died shortly from this illness.
