Important facts about John Stevenson.
He was a former political correspondent for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) popular for broadcasting major stories from Westminster, including the political response to the 9/11 terrorist attack. He battled with alcohol addiction for years which led him to quit his job at the Corporation.
After overcoming alcoholism, he rejoined the BBC with fresh energy, worked his way to become a political correspondent. He suffered a stroke in 2013 while working as a political correspondent for the BBC in north Wales.
He suffered a further stroke in 2017 because he refused to do the physiotherapy he was prescribed and his condition worsened.
John Stevenson cause of death
John Stevenson was found lifeless on the floor of the living room where his bed was located. When an alarm was raised after no response, police were called to the room. A post-mortem examination could find no clinical cause of his death.
There was no foul play in his death and there was nothing like drug overdose at the time of his death. So it is concluded that John Stevenson died of natural causes.
He died on 12 March 2020.
