Local Journalist Adrienne Pan CBC Edmonton’s death didn’t sit well with her listeners. Many have shared how shocked they are after hearing the news. Adrienne hosted the CBC Edmonton afternoon radio show Radio Active. She died over the weekend at age 43.
The CBC reporters revealed that Pan was suffering from severe illness for months. She achieved a lot with her broadcast career and worked globally in Lethbridge and Winnipeg before coming to join CBC. She hosted quite a number of shows and did them well with her heart.
She then won the National Radio-Television News Directors Award in the Best Long feature Category in the name of her documentary “Serving Grace”. Pan did a lot of work at her work and community by inspiring them to do what they couldn’t do. She was always prepared for her interviews and never skipped tough questions.
Reflecting on the experience in 2018, Pan said: “It was a horrific experience to be on an unscripted broadcast for hours on end, but it was one of the most important moments in journalism I’ve experienced in my career.”
“My parents, who are immigrants, taught me to have a very dedicated work ethic,” she told the Winnipeg Free Press in 2007.
“She never shies away from tough questions or tough jobs and has high standards for everything she does,” said Stephanie Coombs, director of news and programming at CBC Edmonton.
Pan has also inspired her colleagues to meet high standards. Coombs said
“As colleagues and friends, we will all miss her dearly,” she said.
