Patrick Kim McDermott was a photographer from the United States.
He went missing on June 30, 2005, while on an overnight fishing expedition off the coast of Los Angeles, California. He was Olivia Newton-on-again, John’s off-again beau.
The US Coast Guard determined that he was most likely lost at sea. He was however born on September 18, 1956.
Since his disappearance, unconfirmed rumors, notably in the Australian media, have circulated that McDermott staged his own death and is still alive in Mexico.
Prior to his abduction, he had been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Olivia Newton-John for around 9 years. McDermott was working as a lighting designer when Olivia met him.
McDermott married actress Yvette Nipar in 1992 and divorced shortly thereafter.
Chance McDermott is their son.
