A British Organist and composer Francis Jackson has died. He died at age 104 on January 10, 2022. Jackson was born in Malton, North Yorkshire on 2 October 1917. He received his training as a chorister at York Minster under his predecessor, Sir Edward Bairstow.
Nationally and internationally, Jackson did recitals and shows all over the world and made countless recordings of solo organ music and of choral music with the choir of York Minster.
Jackson was a great composer. However, Jackson wrote lots of works for the organ and choir as well as his Vierne-inspired Toccata, Chorale, and Fugue (1955), the widely-sung hymn East Acklam. Inspired by the 20th-century French school, Alleluia, Laudate pueri Dominum for double choir.
Dr. Jackson still played the organ at age 100.
Francis Jackson’s Cause of Death
With sadness, the children of Jackson Alice, Will, and Eddie made a statement that their dad, “Francis Jackson, died peacefully yesterday, 10th January 2022. With gratitude, we celebrate such a long and fruitful life.”
He lived an exemplary life for the young ones to follow. He slept and didn’t wake up. The family of Francis Jackson is waiting for the autopsy report to know the cause of death.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
