Sam Mitchell will always have a place in the hearts of football fans in Australia. His career as player set the tone for his coaching career currently.

He retired at the end of 2017 and began working with West Coast as Adam Simpson’s assistant.

Before completing his career at West Coast, Sam Mitchell wore the brown and gold for 307 games, winning four premierships and the Brownlow Medal.

After two years of managing the midfield for the Hawks, Mitchell assumed the Head of Development role in preparation for 2021.

There he helped develop the Hawks’ burgeoning youth talent while simultaneously acting as Box Hill’s senior coach. He is worth 17.7 million as of 2023.

After spending a year managing the Eagles’ middle unit and enjoying his first taste of coaching a premiership, Mitchell returned to Hawthorn as an assistant coach under Alastair Clarkson.

So yes, Mitchell has had stints with the Eagles football club and the Hawtons Football Club. Alastair Clarkson was replaced as the head coach by Mitchell at the conclusion of the 2021 season.
