IMF does not have a president but rather Kristalina Georgieva, an economist from Bulgaria, has been serving as the IMF’s managing director (MD) and chairwoman since October 1, 2019.
Georgieva came from a family of officials and was born in Sofia.
Her grandfather, Ivan Karshovski, was a well-known Bulgarian rebel, and her father was a civil engineer who oversaw government road construction projects.
