Bob McGrath was an American Actor, Singer, musician, and Children’s Author, born on June 13, 1932, in Ottawa, Illinois, US. He died peacefully at home in Teaneck, New Jersey, surrounded by his family, at the age of 90 on December 4, 2022.
He is best known for playing the original human character Bob Johnson on the long-running educational television series Sesame Street.
Bob is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s School of Music. He worked with Mitch Miller and was featured tenor on Miller’s NBC-TV television sing-along Series Sing Along With Mitch for five seasons from 1959 to 1964. Bob was also a Singer at Walt Kelly album Songs of Pogo.
