Juan Thornhill made his professional regular season debut and first career start in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 40-26 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He ended the game with eight combined tackles.

Thornhill was introduced as the first-team free safety following the game. In the 31-24 defeat to the Houston Texans in Week 6, Deshaun Watson’s pass was intercepted by Thornhill.

In week 13’s game against the Oakland Raiders, Thornhill intercepted a pass from Derek Carr and returned it 46 yards for a score, giving his side a 40-9 victory.

He finished the season with an amazing first season with three interceptions and 42 tackles.

Thornhill began each of the 16 regular-season contests until tearing his left ACL on December 29, 2019, against the Los Angeles Chargers.

He had to miss the postseason as a result. Even without Thornhill, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV.

At the start of training camp on July 31, 2020, he was added to the active/physically unable to perform list. He was removed from the waiting list on August 19, 2020.
